FAQs for Physician Associates

Can physician associates perform aesthetic treatments?

Yes, physician associates can legally perform aesthetic treatments. Dermal fillers can be administered independently. For botulinum toxin (Botox), you'll need to work with a prescriber as PAs do not currently have prescribing rights.

What about prescribing for Botox?

Currently, physician associates cannot prescribe. You'll need to partner with a doctor or dentist who can provide prescriptions for your patients. Many PAs build successful practices with prescriber partnerships.

How does GMC regulation affect aesthetics practice?

GMC regulation (from December 2024) enhances your professional standing and may open additional pathways in the future. It demonstrates your commitment to professional standards.

Will my medical training be recognised?

Absolutely. Your medical school training and clinical experience are highly valued. You understand anatomy, pharmacology, and patient safety — all essential for aesthetic practice.
